Far more than a simple cosmetic accessory that sets the tone for your gear, the tactical vest is a valuable ally. It both protects you and carries all your equipment so that it stays easily accessible during airsoft games. Discover our tips for choosing the right tactical vest.
What is an airsoft tactical vest?
A tactical vest is a piece of protective equipment specially designed for airsoft. Its design makes it a faithful copy of military tactical vests, all the more so as it comes in many colors and patterns to match the rest of your outfit. It therefore adds a certain realism that enhances the gaming experience.
The vest is not limited to style, however, since it lets you carry the essential gear needed for a game to run smoothly, such as ammunition, grenades, radios or water bottles, for example. The tactical vest has the advantage of being customizable according to the player's needs. Pockets and straps can be adjusted to achieve the best possible configuration for carrying accessories. At the same time, the tactical vest offers a certain level of comfort since it distributes the weight of the equipment more evenly across the player.
While the back and stomach are not sensitive areas, impacts from some BBs can cause significant pain. The tactical vest is therefore a piece of protective equipment depending on the materials chosen. This is particularly true of lightweight, hard-wearing materials such as nylon or polyester. The tactical vest also protects the skin from the rubbing and irritation caused by wearing gear and a replica weapon, especially in the case of a rifle. It is also possible to add a ballistic protection plate for increased protection against impacts from airsoft BBs.
How do you choose the right airsoft tactical vest?
There are many types of airsoft tactical vests. To help you choose the one that matches your needs, several factors should be taken into account.
Color
The tactical vest comes in many colors. It is advisable to choose the color according to the environment of the mission. Discreet colors are ideal in wooded areas for optimal camouflage. Conversely, in a winter environment, a white tactical vest is more appropriate. The tactical vest must also remain consistent with the rest of the outfit for complete immersion in an airsoft game.
Size
The tactical vest must fit the player's size and body shape perfectly. Some models are adjustable for greater convenience. It is strongly recommended to check the measurements before buying a tactical vest to make sure it suits the player perfectly.
Comfort
A tactical vest is designed to be worn during game sessions lasting several hours. It must therefore be comfortable to ensure an airsoft game runs smoothly without causing extra fatigue. Some models are breathable to prevent the build-up of sweat and moisture. The vest can also be fitted with plates or padding for added comfort.
Pockets and compartments
Some tactical vests, such as our modular tactical duty vest, come with pockets already integrated. It is therefore essential to check whether they can meet players' needs for storing all the gear and accessories that are indispensable for airsoft games. Some vests may also feature MOLLE attachment points for adding extra pouches.
Materials
The quality of a tactical vest depends above all on the quality of the materials. To guarantee an optimal service life, it is advisable to choose lightweight, sturdy materials that stand up well to wear and tear.
How much does an airsoft tactical vest cost?
The tactical vest adapts to players' needs thanks to its great modularity, depending on the type of pouches chosen, with or without the MOLLE system. It also provides protection against the impact of BBs from replica weapons.
The price varies greatly from one brand to another and according to the materials chosen. You can find models around €50, while some tactical vests can reach several hundred euros. Price alone, however, is not an indicator of quality. It is therefore advisable to choose your airsoft tactical vest according to your needs and body shape.
