Wearing tactical gloves can affect the accuracy of your shooting by limiting tactile sensitivity and changing the position of your hand on the firearm. Fortunately, however, there are techniques to improve the accuracy of your shooting while wearing gloves.
Maintaining shooting accuracy while wearing shooting gloves
Here are a few tips to limit the impact of shooting gloves on your accuracy:
- Choose thin, close-fitting gloves that offer better tactile feel and greater freedom of movement.
- Military gloves specifically designed for shooting often provide better dexterity and a better tactile feel than standard protective gloves.
- If your military shooting glove changes the position of your hand on the firearm, you can adjust your grip to compensate. For example, you can widen your grip on the firearm's handle to make up for the extra thickness of the shooting gloves.
- Practise regularly with gloves: by training regularly with a pair of military shooting gloves, you will get used to how they feel and will be able to compensate for their effects on your accuracy.
- Develop your tactile sensitivity. With regular practice, you can improve your tactile sensitivity and learn to feel the firearm's trigger even through shooting gloves.
- Warm up before shooting. Before starting your shooting session, take the time to warm up and get used to how your gloves feel on your pistol.
- Make sure the shooting glove is comfortable to wear, as you will need to wear it for long periods.
